Synopsis
Rigor and reproducibility are at the core of modern science and set apart scientific inquiry from pseudoscience. Statistics, data science skills, and rigor are fundamental to excel in 21st century biology. In addition, these are highly sought-after skill-sets on the current job market.
We will introduce students to concepts of reproducible research practices, data management, experimental design, and the latest publishing models.
Content
The content will be delivered via classic seminars, round table discussions, hands on workshops, and exercises. The learning outcomes are as follows:
- Explain the importance of reproducibility in science.
- Understand the principles of good experimental design.
- Navigate the landscape of novel tools and initiatives making the research process more robust.
- Be able to implement learned tools into ongoing research process.
- Structure ongoing research processes more efficiently to increase rigor.
